Paying your Own Tuition & Recruiting

International student here - comes from a family that makes $36k USD per year (my parents are based in an asian country hence the currency conversion). Tried my best at IB but kinda not sure if I will get in. Would like to know stories of kids who kind of paid their tuition and did not belong to a trust fund. My tuition varies from 10k - 20k after financial aid - but I made around 6/7k ( i had free housing, with unpaid IB internship and startup internship) and paid a chunk of the tuition so that my parents do not have to pay.

I do not feel proud tbh - I see my friends partying and stuff while I do not have much money to do anything because I just paid my tuition so I am kind of in a financial crunch.

Would love to learn more stories.

Most Americans these days “pay their tuition” thought student loans. My parents both paid their college tuition with part time jobs, but while I worked in college my pay was comical compared to the cost of living. Entry level wages have not kept up with the soaring cost of higher education.

I will say that the day I paid off my student loans was a hell of a good day.
