Not near, but usually I fly out to Vail whenever I have the time
Many mountains in Vermont (4-6hr drive, some shuttles leave from NYC I believe).
Some smaller mountains in NY, MA, etc.
Hunter and Windham aren't too far
Don’t bother with skiing on the east coast tbh. Just make the time to hit Vail or Park City a couple times…
lol, do NOT LISTEN to this guy. Sure go to vail or park city if you basically suck at skiing/snowboarding and need easy groomers to cruise down.
Go to Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Snowbird, Mammoth, Telluride, Revelstroke, or Whistler.
stay away from park city and vail
Killington VT or Hunter NY
Hunter for a day trip. Park City for anything overnight. Super easy to get to from SLC.
Hunter and Windham leave a LOT to be desired, but are the only ones really doable for a day trip - about 2 hours from NYC. Good if you just love to ski and want to get out there even if the snow is kind of bad.
Vermont is decent skiing (take your pick but Stratton, Stowe, Killington are all popular) but that's gonna be a 4-6 hour drive and it's not easy driving. There's a train, kind of, but it's old, smelly, no Wifi and takes like 6-9 hours so would not recommend that. VT is reasonable for a 3 day weekend.
Obviously CO / the west in general are better but that's not realistic to do more than 2-3 times a season, the above two places will keep you on the snow even if not the gold standard
The restroom at most restaurants is sufficient
