Requiescat in pace, Pater Sanctissimus.

I deleted this post on behalf of those people who feel differently than I do. I'm sorry that my post bothered some of you, as I myself am disgusted at certain things I've seen on this site in the past, so perhaps I can see why people don't like it when some young jerk tries to shove his beliefs in their faces. I'm not trying to go on and become a sorry excuse for an ambassador, and it's not my modus operandi to stir controversy into a boiling pot.

For those of you who were in mutual feeling with my post, I thank you sincerely and appreciate your kind words, while voicing my lamentation over my choice against keeping it here.

Thank you for trying to understand.

Isaiah, I'd like to thank you sincerely for understanding the intentions that I had when creating this post. As always, it's crystal clear that you took the time to show respect when you came to this thread. That's all I wish to say here.

Edit: For the sake of surety, I'd like to clarify my final sentence in this post: I meant no disrespect by my words whatsoever; it has been a very difficult week and a half for my family and I since Christmas Day, but I don't wish to bore you with the details. Thanks for being there for everyone as always.

He and Barb aren't going to the Good Place, just saying.

Baptized Roman Catholic and still have a lot of respect for the historical importance of the institution, but I'll readily admit both this guy and the current Pope were/are black eyes on the Church.

There's no such thing as the Good Place, and the place that is Good is so good that there are no words to describe it. Besides, it is not your right to judge whether or not someone will find mercy in the eyes of God, for lacking he will find all of us without doubt. I have no doubt done much worse that defended evil wrong people for the sake of trying to do the right thing, so if Ratzinger is in Hell, we surely all are.

There's no such thing as the Good Place

You're entitled to your opinion, but trying to push your depressing godless existence on me is a waste of time.

Seems a bit silly for you to start out saying "Heaven doesn't exist", whatever interpretation that may be, and then go on to say it's not my right to judge anything. If heaven doesn't exist as you say, and by extension there is no god/source of divinity, the only judgement there is comes from other human beings. Therefore it's absolutely my right to judge anyone I want, doesn't mean you have to agree. We judge people literally every day and it's my opinion that people who protect/knowingly work with kiddy diddlers or visited Epstein's island all deserve to suffer both in this life and the next. If you believe they're worthy of being saved, that's your judgement.

Whataboutism of "well people have done worse" is a child's argument and a pretty weird way to try and defend pedophile enablers. And I hope you just made a major writing error, because this reads as though you're saying that you yourself have done worse than knowingly move around pedophiles so they can avoid prosecution and keep abusing kids or visiting the personal rape island of a man who abused hundreds of young girls? Hello FBI, this man right here...

Thank you for giving your respect to the cause, my friend. Kind people such as yourself are certainly what keeps me going strong when life is hard to face. I know very well that the Pontiff appreciates your thoughts and prayers from the Kingdom of God.

May there be many blessings for you and your loved ones in this time of renewal.

RIP. Think of him what you will, Trads hate him because he led parts of VCII, Progs hate him because he may have not done enough to root out the pedos, but he was a great, humble, brilliant, and incredibly down-to-earth man. My mother was even confirmed by him. Nothing but respect on BXVI.

It's amazing that your mother was confirmed by the future Pope! I'm sure that she must've held the memory in great esteem when she saw the white smoke on television in 2005!

As I've said in the past, my Nana and Auntie were devout Catholics of Irish ancestry who were very proud of their faith; Nana shared a birthday (five years apart) with Pope Benedict XVI and both of my beloved relatives were very happy to watch the election on television. Nana and Auntie held the closest bond to each other as sisters, and equally to the path to sainthood, than anyone I've ever known in my life, and for her abundance of warmth and virtue throughout her life (not to mention never being married), Auntie would've been the perfect nun. I'd love to see the "dynamic duo" of my family being honored with the path to canonization one day, and it's certainly something for which I'll act as an advocate for the cause when I'm older, but as Asia used to sing, "Only Time Will Tell".

No matter what happens, one thing is for sure: Nana and Auntie are definitely having a good time in the Kingdom of God with Pope Benedict, St. John Paul II, and all the saints to which they were devoted from their earliest years. It brings me joy and solace to know this, and nothing will ever make me feel more fortunate for them.

My mother is a child of post-VCII-Catholicism with its guitar songs and folding chairs, but she is truly devoted to the worldly works of mercy, so I believe she honors God in her heart as much as Ratzinger did.

What did your Auntie do in life? Did she never consider the monastic path for herself?
