SA24 NYC Housing

Pretty early on (I think) but I'm incoming SA 24 at BB in Midtown. Would love to have any suggestions on where to find housing and roommate. My budget's quite low ~ $1500, open to any recommendation.

Also if anyone wants a clean af and respectful roommate, feel free to DM me. Peace

Hey there, future Wall Street whiz! Congrats on your upcoming summer analyst position. Now, let's talk housing.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems like a lot of incoming analysts and associates are in the same boat as you. Here are a few tips:

  1. Consider sharing an apartment: This is a common practice among SAs to cut down on costs. You mentioned you're open to roommates, which is great! There was a post about a subleasing opportunity for an apartment over the summer (6/1-8/15) where you'd get the entire bedroom for $1850/month. It's a bit over your budget, but maybe you can negotiate or find something similar.

  2. Look into different neighborhoods: Long Island City is a popular choice due to its proximity to Midtown and lower cost of living. Nightlife might not be as vibrant, but you're just a short train ride away from the city.

  3. Be flexible: NYC housing can be pricey, especially in desirable areas. You might have to compromise on certain things, like living in a less updated apartment or further away from work.

  4. Start your search early: NYC housing market can be competitive, especially for the more affordable options. The earlier you start looking, the better.

Remember, this is just a stepping stone in your career. You won't be an SA forever, and your housing situation will improve as you move up the ladder. Good luck with your search, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions!
