Scary Times - Civil War Part 2?

I know it seems a little far fetched, but prior to Wednesday I would never have though that an army of US citizens with weapons would try to take over the US govt.  I will take an educated guess and say that most of people who ransacked the Capitol, came from states where Trump is very popular, which happens to be southern states.  I am not suggesting that people from the north were not involved.  I personally know of someone, sort in my community in the north east who has rented busses full of Trump supporters for the purpose taking them to protests.  I do not have any knowledge that he or anyone in my community was involved in Wednesday's incident.  There are rumors floating around that Wednesday's assault on the Capitol will not be the only well planned event to overthrow the US government.   May be I am being an alarmist here but seeing an attempted overthrow of the US Capitol was a surreal experience.  The closest surreal experience I could think of was watching planes crashing into the world trade center.  A friend of mine literally saw the planes go by her office window.

Bro calm down. This was a riot, not a planned takeover.

How is it not a planned take over when thousands of people with weapons trespass onto Capitol grounds and break into the Capitol.  It just can't be that easy to do.  It may have been more well planned than you think.  It was discovered that one guy had 11 molotov cocktails in his vehicle.

The military has its shit together. There also won't be any states seceding.

Worst case, there would be some sort of rebellion in small pockets led by kooky ex-military misfits with personality issues.

I hope are right.  The Capitol had not been breached since 1812.

Honestly, anyone who seriously believes that there is going to be another "Civil War" needs to have paid more attention to US history.

1) There is no clear "regional" division as there was during the 1860s. Most states are fairly purple. Worst case, the population division is about 30:70 skewed towards one party.

2) The military isn't even close to being divided nor their allegiances questioned. There hasn't been a single major military leader who came out and voiced their politics. No one has sweared allegiance to a particular cause other than protecting the UNITED States of America.

3) Overthrowing of local governments and some sort of confederacy of rogue governments is possible but not at a state level. The worst case scenario is maybe some city or small time County governments in bumfuck no where will be overthrown. But there's no way they'll ever become powerful enough (or long lasting) to seriously challenge the US Federal government.

where was this alarmism when BLM and Antifa were ravaging cities? causing far more damage and destruction than what we saw at the capitol? this shit has been going on for months

BLM has a legitimate cause and yes, protesting got out of hand.  I condemn any kind of violence.  This is far different in that the cause is possibly to overthrow the US government.  May be they were trying to assassinator members of congress or even the vice president.   Keep in mind, this was basically endorsed by the POTUS.  He told them they are special people and that he loves them.  That was sick!

they rioted and things got out of hand and they broke into the capitol to cause some damage, there was never a chance of them overthrowing the US government. this wasn't some well thought out plan to grab power, it was a bunch of redneck idiots who are pissed off at the election. it's really the exact same thing you see from the far left, but when the far right does it everyone loses their shit. what a joke.

Kind of necessary at this point. It's time time for Saints and Heroes against the woke tyranny.

I'm starting to think neink  is a Chinese shill trying to spark conflicts between the left and right. He for sure loves a US civil war.

Again, would love Italian troops to help out.

Lol.

You have an entire upper class made of journalists, academics and Silicon Valley employees who has been waging a cultural, economic, social and now political war against your lower class. The former produces a huge amount of pieces of hatred, demonization, demoralization and dehumanization of the latter on daily basis, often out of completely made up stories. The Twitter to Parler migration is simply further evidence of a society coming apart, it can't stay together anymore. Conservatives can't live where liberals have power, because the latter preach ''tolerance and empathy'' while enforce the strictest thought conformity with hatred and envy.

Yet the best you can do is blaming ''foreigners'' for your country's situation.

OP you might be the softest person on this site. How was it well planned when there was no clear objective once inside, no real leader, no real strategy besides go to Capitol Hill and protest?

I’m not condoning what happened but you are quite the spineless chump when it comes to hysterics like this.

No point complaining to this guy. He has a history of not putting much thought into things and just spewing whatever BS he see's on CNN/MSNBC. If he lived in a Red state, he'd be one of those guys spewing some BS he see's on FOX.

Idk if the guy is just not intellectually gifted enough or so stubborn that he refuses to actually think critically about what information he's ingesting. Either way, I call these people "intellectual sheeps"

People who insult others like you frequently do, often have very low self esteem.  You frequently try to pump yourself up at the expense of others.  You must be trying to compensate for something.  I am going to guess that either you have had limited success with women or were the kid who was frequently picked last in sports pick up games. Dude, I am very confident in who I am regardless of what you or anyone else on a conservative forum says.

It was alarming, but most of those people were protesters that had been wound up by the rally and years of propaganda and lies.

The scary part was the embedded militia types with zip ties, tasers, guns, etc.  So what occurred at the  Capitol was a good old fashioned riot, with an embedded group(s) trying to enact some sort of plot (ie kidnap, murder and/or coup).

I think it served as a wake up call against extremism, but I would take some breathes before I worried about civil war.  Hopefully the end result of the sacking of the Capitol will be that the GOP will move away from trumpism its 2024 presidential candidate.  Hawley and Cruz were definitely damaged by this, it remains to be seen whether they recover.

Siding with Putin did not do it, so may be this last straw, hopefully.

Plot twist, the first foreign intervention during the Second Civil War is from Mexico, for the conservative side.

Who are you referring to when you say "the conservative side" of the civil war?

That's a legitimate question. Let's go with the Republican side to avoid confusion
