Short vacation during summer internship?
Sophomore with an internship in PE starting shortly. Runs for 17 weeks (May-Aug). Can I take a one week vacation with enough notice? I'm signed for SA 2026, and this company doesn't give out return offers, so that isn't a consideration. My main worry is that it would affect my background check for my 2026 job (if they ask about dates, etc.) I know it's a bad look, but I really haven't been away from home for a full 4 months before, and I'd like to go home to visit my family and friends (working in a different city).

While I don't think it's a big deal to leave in the middle, why not just shorten the internship by a week or two? 17 weeks is a crazy long amount of time (I think typical is 10) and the incremental benefit of being there through, say, the end of August versus mid-August isn't very meaningful. Would help you get time at home without the potential optics issues you mentioned.
