Small Business Discussion

I'm looking for some insight into small business, in light of the environment.

I know that small businesses aren't usually especially cash rich, but does anyone have any insight or experience on much cash on hand these businesses usually have? From the news it seems that a lot of them are essentially running month to month. I know that small businesses employee a lot of people, but are a majority of them just one bad month away from closing at any time or year?
