stupid question regarding gloves
i know it's far but i just thought of this.... if it's winter and you're wearing black leather gloves and you're in a suit/winter coat and you have to meet a business prospect OUTDOORS, do you immediately take off the gloves before shaking his hand? or is it fine to leave them on while shaking?

if they are wearing gloves, then it is permitted to leave yours on. if they are not wearing gloves, then you need to take yours off before shaking their hand.
There is no "general convention" for handshaking outdoors between people with different hand garments. While I will second mfoste's advice, I don't think many people would think twice on the issue and therefore you shouldn't let this concern you. Finally, when in doubt, do what your boss does.
