The WSO bot is absolutely out of control

I was wondering why the quality/quantity of posts has gone down recently, and I found my answer as I was trying to post some helpful advice to a question posed in the PE forum. My comment won't post because it's automatically flagged, as I was giving advice on how to help get some extra $ while coaching. Add to this that I think half of my comments in the last week have been flagged for review immediately, I just don't get it. They weren't controversial posts, in the slightest.

Quickly running out of reasons to come to this site.

Hit this myself a few times over the last couple of week. Yes, there are some decidedly controversial posts that need to get nuked. But it needs some tuning because there are some of us that say adult things about adult topics...and we get yeet'ed automatically.

we just made an update so there is no more automated unpublishing...but we still use Hive to flag potential violations...unfortunately it means a lot more manual review by the mod team but it looks like "AI" has a long way to go...  it marked a typo from someone saying "wan tit" instead of "want it" as a level 3 sexual violation...so clearly, we're going to have to use it as a flagging tool and unfortunately it won't be use for any automated moderation.  Please be patient...we'remaking changes typically every few days and rolling out new tools to help us get better.  Thank you.

The new bot is ridiculously annoying, yes, but I understand your job and task and also know that alpha rollouts of bots like this will be all irregular in the first couple of months. I've had a few posts flagged myself and scratched my head wondering what I did wrong, so it's nice to see it's mostly just system glitches. I think a healthy middle balance can exist here, so glad you & the team are working to remedy it all. Be well.

WallStreetOasis.com With this point in mind, but do you have sandbox copy of WSO you can test and tune this on first? Not saying take a copy of people's posts and violate privacy obviously, but make up posts like you mentioned in your post (not going to repeat them since we're talking about the bot being out on the hunt).

I've had a few flagged where I'm giving advice but just used a curse word. Maybe, we can have a little more leniency in the bot there. I don't think the intention is to have Brigham Young level censoring here but instead to keep the political/racist stuff off.

I'm sure you guys are working on it.  Still early on in the process and there will be kinks.

You are probably better off banning people.  Users flag them and then moderators ban them. With that said, people who get banned sometimes do not walk away quietly and some of the mods here are not anonymous.

I was just flagged for telling you to ban people instead of flagging.

I just got auto-hit for posting a link to a general news site (that as far as I'm aware didn't contain any disparaging content) and a one-sentence comment about it. Does posting links also trigger the AI comment hit?

Can we just admit that moderating according to the Buzzfeed ''18 things up my butt'' preferences was an awful idea?

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

First post asking for help on September 29 and today is October 17. Not familiar with how much of WSO is built on a pre-existing application versus from ground up/custom, but for the purposes of what is trying to be accomplished to improve the platform, this is a short duration to implement changes / tools being discussed. Nicely done to get this out fast and providing feedback/updates daily.
