Flying down from NYC to Charlotte next weekend to see Tame Impala. Wanted to see him in Brooklyn last October but didn't get to. I've only been to Charlotte once a few years ago and never left Uptown and was so bored.
Any recommendations for things to do next weekend before the concert?
I've never heard of this Impala fellow but just hop across 277 and hang out at the bars in South End. There's a million of them. If you want to go somewhere outdoors and do something fun, go to the US Whitewater Center.
Thank you, Larry David! Tame Impala is the name of a band from Australia (although the band is just one guy, Kevin Parker, with the exception being when he performs live). His first two albums Innerspeaker and Lonerism are more psychedelic rock albums, his third and fourth albums Currents and the Slow Rush are more psychedelic pop, and similar with his latest album, Deadbeat, although I honestly think Tame Impala music is really its own genre.
He's incredibly good. If you've never heard him before I'd probably start with Currents, it's his most popular album. Listen with headphones on and play it loud.
