Things to Do/See in Copenhagen
Planning a trip to Copenhagen this spring. Any Scandinavian and EU monkeys got some recommendations for watering holes, unique things to do/see, places to eat? Generally prefer places that are transit-accessible, which doesn't seem to be a problem there as Copenhagen is renowned for that.
I'm also interested in urban planning and architecture, so if anyone has any unique recommendations for that (be it TODs, parks, neighborhoods, etc.), that'd be great.
I'm aware of most of the history and general stuff (Christiansborg Palace, Little Mermaid statue, Christiania, stuff like that), but if there's anything in particular that would be appreciated. Any and all recommendations welcome.
La Bianchina
second this — la banchina is a gem of a spot
Sights:
- Nyhavn
- Rundetaarn
- Amalienborg
- Christiansborg
- Rosenborg + Kongens Have
- Tivoli - must do
- Little mermaid + kastellet (kinda mid but u gotta do it i guess)
- Helsingør (if you have time for a day trip! Check out Kronborg there)
- Dyrehaven (half day trip)
Cool areas to visit/areas to walk around:
- Meatpacking district - grab a drink or a meal
- Nørrebro - hipster/cool area Leanowski (young people bar), Pompette
- Ørstedparken
- Kongens Have
- Torvehallerne - food market thing, but pricey tho
- Refshaleøen - industrial area now becoming gentrified, bike or walk there. Recs: La Banchina, hart bageri
Other recs:
- Cafe halvejen - tiny authentic danish pub, stop for a drink at night
- Domhusets smørrebrod - authentic danish smørrebrod that won’t break the bank
- Kartoffelrækkerne - cute family houses
- Fabro - walk ins only, wait can be long but decent cheap pasta in a cute area
- SAFARI
- Rave place - Hangaren, Den Anden Side, Baggen
I just wanna second the recommendation for fabro in particular. Cheap, has great vibes, and might be the best pasta I’ve ever had. In addition to hart bageri, Juno the baker is fantastic
Hell yeah, thanks for the recommendations. What's a neighborhood you'd suggest to get a airbnb in/hotel at?
How boujee do you want? What’s your budget?
Culture Box is a fun club
Bevar Christiania too
I love CPH, even though it's unlike say Italy, i. e. it's perhaps not going to blow your mind.
Having said that I'd say the most important thing – rent a bike (if you know how to use one). CPH is a bicycle capital of the world, and your experience is going to be so much more authentic (and convenient / cheap). I've rented one from Baisikeli, was a good place a few years back.
Oh and if you're into architecture, the Royal Library is pretty cool both from the inside (nice layout) and outside (boy, the way that they connected an old building to a new building – just awesome!). Glyptotek is also pretty nice.
If you're into the sunset x landing jets combo, go to Amager. The correct way to do it is (1) to buy some wine, wine glasses, and snacks; (2) put them in the basket in the front of your bike (which you absolutely should have at this point, just trust me); (3) get there and enjoy. Take a wind jacket with you, it's the Baltic sea!
