Toronto property prices...

Our household income is CAD 350k and we have one kid - my carry DAW is great but it's also super long dated and who knows if it will ever materialize. I don't know how people can survive in this city unless they opt to live in a small condo. We are considering moving out to like Burlington but the prices for a 4BR detached house is still around 1.5-1.7mm, which is absurd. How are people in the GTA surviving unless they give up on the dream of having a free standing house?

Because contrary to popular belief, people actually make money in Toronto, the city is cashed. I bought at peak rates and I learnt the hard way that the market for houses in the $1.5mm+ range have been on fire all through the "down" period before the BoC started cutting.

There's good shit out there (3 bed / 2 bath type detacheds), you just have to look outside the hip and trendy Leslieville / Junction / Mimico type areas.

I currently live in an run-down shidder facing a concrete wall. Can't see much that is decent unless you are willing to be 1+ hour via Go-Train outside the city.

Money laundering internationals causes RE price spikes, same thing in NYC and London. Nothing new.

You inherit it.

Anyone outside of the Asset holding class isn't buying property in TO unless you have some sort of ethnic mafia like loan system in place.  Too much money in fleecing people and shoving 50 international slaves/students per house.

Get out of Canada bro.  It hit the end of peak moronic neoliberalism faster than any other nation.  Absolutely nothing suggests Canada can ever reclaim its 1998 crown of highest living standards wordlwide.
