Underrated Fictional Financial Characters in Movies
People tend to copy the style and persona of Gordon Gekko, Patrick Bateman and the like, but there are so many finance bros who don't get full credit.
Let me introduce you to Edward Lewis (from Pretty Woman)
He's a legend on Wall Street, known for being a partner of a PE firm looking for some hostile takeovers. But let's be real, the real reason he's successful is that he's got a killer wardrobe and the charm of a young Richard Gere. He excelled in his studies at a prep school, an ivy league school... and is a playboy. He's got a rotating roster of hoes on speed dial and is always on the lookout for his next conquest. But don't worry, he's a gentleman about it (except for that one time he hired a hooker, but let's not talk about that).
What are your underrated characters?

McLovin
Eddie Murphy - Trading Places
Underrated considering there's literally the Eddie Murphy rule in place thanks to that movie.
Came in to post this. GOAT finance movie, don’t care what anyone says.
It's a Wonderful Life is my favorite movie of all time.
This is what females consider to be their perfect fantasy. Heavens. No, he cannot just be handsome, smart, and funny, no, he must be Gigachad incarnate, and she can be the plainest broad in the world and have him wrapped around the finger. Women...
Dated with a girl who made a comment during this movie that it was every woman’s dream to be courted in this manner (Gere throwing money at a working girl).
Didn’t pursue anything further. She later reached out to me asking why do men cheat.
Some people. Scary thing was she was educated and somehow worked in the legal system.
Lol you think that's not the normal? And before anyone gripes, I have first hand knowledge too. I've lived it. Unfortunately it seemed like the majority of people in the legal realm are more Meghan Markle from Suits than a Robert McCormick. Or if you want a more modern version, H. Rodgin Cohen.
Jonah Hill 😂
I think The Wire has a lot of street knowledge, that is really just repurposed financial knowledge. (not a movie though).
Yep - another reason why it's my favorite show ever made and in my opinion the greatest series of all time. Simon and his crew often brought in former gang members to help provide insight and induce realism into scenes, often diving into the complex financial structures behind them. I've re-watched it three times now, always love seeing the BTS and the dozens of interviews on the topic.
"Omar's coming!" - The villain you wound up loving.
Will Ferrell in the Other Guys. A reformed pimp who becomes an accountant for the police station and chases down Ponzi Scheme perpetrators who are not properly filing scaffolding permits.
My favorite movie protagonists:
The Man with No Name - The Dollars Trilogy
T.E. Lawrence - The Lawrence of Arabia
Michael Corleone - The Godfather
Charles Foster Kane - Citizen Kane
Jefferson Smith - Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
James Bond
