Unfair ratings from Uber drivers

I have always been a polite Uber passenger and yet I have a 4.67 rating. I haven’t been doing anything different compared to my friends who have 4.85 ratings. I noticed that Uber drivers outside of New York City tend to give me 5 star ratings while New York City Uber drivers tend to give me lower ratings. Are a lot of New York City Uber drivers biased towards certain passengers?

This may seem like a stupid thing to fuss about but if your rating dips below a certain threshold, fewer drivers are going to pick you up

Why does this matter literally in any way? Are you truly butthurt over the uber driver not liking you as much as your friends?

Well, if your rating dips below a certain threshold, more drivers would not want to pick you up. And that is a problem.

Yes because they're really establishing a hard cutoff at 4.5. Unless you're one of the animals with a sub 3 you're nitpicking over nothing dude.

I'm 4.84 but who really cares.

You are a F*cking loser dude! Haha I can't believe that you have lower than a 4.9 rating!! Haha peasant!! I think I would get sick to my stomach if I breathed the same air as you.

Honestly all jokes aside, you probably fart alot in the Uber. Or smell really really bad. One or the other, either way, get it sorted and your Uber ELO ranking will go up

Well, your speculations are entirely inaccurate. Do you use Uber mainly outside of NYC? I can’t believe I have such a low rating without doing anything wrong

It's New York. Being white in that city is enough to offend some people. Half the drivers there barely speak passable English.

I probably don’t have a 4.99 or something because at times I have needed a ride with my shirt off and with my bike, so may have gotten sweat on the seats.

Checking in with some real advice from someone with a 4.99-

the biggest thing drivers ding you for is being late. if you want a 5 star rating, be ready right when the uber arrives. this is the big difference between me and people I know with a 4 rating.

I always tip, but I'm honestly not sure if this even impacts it. i believe uber is double blind (so they don't see tip/rating until after they rate you?). i also often tip the next day when I get my email receipt, so clearly I'm not getting bad reviews for that.

other than that, just be a polite normal person and you should get 5 stars the vast majority of the time.

last thing is just don't be an animal when drunk- have friends get their ratings torpedoed by a 1 star when they're ubering around with 6 drunk people acting like apes.
