West Village in 2023?

WSO Brethren -

1. What is the reputation of the West Village in 2023?

2. I found a spot on Waverly Place (in between W10 and Christopher St), what will it be like living in this section of WV?

Thanks in advance

I lived very closed on waverly and 6th. Frankly, west village gets nicer the further west you get. Being this close to west 4th street is not ideal given the homeless situation. I saw people shitting on then streets almost daily.

Bumping this, I’m currently deciding between two spots. Luxury doorman building in Turtle Bay / Midtown East and a spot in the West Village just below street level - like 1/2 floor down. Both studios of a similar size and same price. Commute would be about the same.

Is WV good enough that it’s worth it even without laundry in building or any amenities?

Edit after moving: well worth it and I have just been using Rinse for laundry. Didn't need in-unit / building after all. Really good quality of life in this part of the city. Great vibe and feels just quiet enough without being dead.
