WFH - Nuclear Shelter edition

Do you guys have one? Because, not going to lie, I think I am ngmi.

Given my long experience discussing with the libs, it's impossible to find an agreement with people who lie to your face, decide what you said even if you didn't say it, or even decide the meaning of your own words.

FYI, Russia just put its nukes on ''special duty'', whatever that means.

Also FYI they have something like 6400 nuclear warheads, while the whole Soviet arsenal in 1990 was up to 45000.

Twitter was a fucking mistake btw. The entire Western intellectual class building its own social media hysteria on how to be tough on Russia without any of them daring to enlist and go to Ukraine.

Yeah. A significant fraction of the population isn't psychologically capable of handling the internet. The information firehose and back-and-forth of social media drive them insane.

Before social media we didn't have this problem. The technological barrier to entry to online discourse was such that the internet was populated by nerds who were more rational and less emotional than the average person. Not anymore.

The Western online reaction to the Russian invasion is in many ways remarkably similar to the recent frenzies over domestic incidents, or the beginning of COVID. A decentralized consensus rapidly develops on social media and intensifies via online purity spiraling. The focus of the rage is instantly deplatformed from everything.

The difference is that it's now happening to a major nuclear power rather than to a few powerless individuals. But I don't get the sense that the rage-Tweeters feel the distinction. This could turn into something really dangerous.

Oh no!  Blue check marks on Twitter are raging at Putin for his invasion!  So dangerous!  They're the problem, not the short idiot threatening to nuke everyone!

Statement still stands. If I don't make it, neither will your evil empire and to the very least, that's a good thing.

I mean it'll feel worse than prison. if the nuclear war starts and you somehow survive in your underground bunker with some canned food stored, you'll live without light, without entertainment, without space to walk, without fresh air, without anything to do. how long will the canned food last? I think a yearly supply of food would take quite some space, so you won't store much more than that. also you'll be disgusted eating the same canned food for every meal every day. maybe better just painlessly die in a nuke blow with everybody else?
