What do you all think of the fisk credit pitch competition for Corp Fin?
In commercial banking and am interested in private credit. I saw this competition as a possible foot in the door. For those unfamiliar see snippet below of rules/description of the event.
""Teams will be pitching one security (not a portfolio). Teams must pick a security that is credit or credit-based, for example: corporate and government bonds, treasuries, and derivatives such as callable bonds and convertible bonds. The pick should be a specific debt-focused instrument, not a company/entity in general. The investment idea and thesis must be based on the fundamental analysis of the credit assessment of the entity. Forecasted financials are not required, but teams do need to have a target price.""
Caveat is you need to be a full time, first-year MBA student. I'm not sure if I'm underestimating it but it doesn't look that much more complicated from Undergrad type final presentations.
Would it be possible to learn the skills needed have a good comprehension and ultimately good presentation of debt instruments in less than one year though?
I don't know if I should let participating in this guide my MBA/career direction. I'm pretty good at presenting and I can probably pull it off in the first year if I prep ahead of time.
