What do you do for fun? - Not in the industry yet

Playing bass in any group I can. Jazz bands, garage jam sessions, whatever. Driving, but that gets expensive. I'll go 4-5 hours out of the way on a road trip to go to a good driving road.

If you're asked 'what do you do for fun' towards the end of an interview, I'd assume it's a good thing as the interviewer probably likes you and is looking to connect with you in ways outside of work.

Some of the answers on this thread would be good to talk about. Others not so much..

1) travel & weekend city trips 2) sports 3) cars (collecting, car shows, fixing them, tuning, driving on the track etc) 4) if possible do 1)-3) with gf/friends

I used to have lots of hobbies but now I spend most of my time working and rebuilding my health, so I look for the fun in that.

Get busy living

I kickbox :P and recently learned golf, and snowboard. I also help out with volunteering when i have time. But lately i've been so tired all i do is sleep and ocaasionally go jog, i figure i'll get active when the nintendo wii comes out. ... yes i know i have no life...

I like to hang upside-down blindfolded, then I take my gun apart and put it back together real fast before my nose begins to bleed.

Enduro dirtbiking, camping out (just camped out at the top of a ski mountain with a few friends the other night, got no sleep but it was freaking awesome) planning a road trip from CT to CA with a few buddies in a Winnebago in August before we go back to school. Gonna hit Colorado, Utah, Vegas and then on the way back go through Arizona, New Mexico etc on Route 66 so I'm looking forward to that. Parents just got a lake house on a well known lake up north as well so we've been going up there, got the party boat and a pair of jet skis to go with it.

Also recently got my ATF licence, so I will be doing a few professional firework shows in July which should be fun. Always been a pyro at heart, but when our town had the local fair in May, I called them up to see who was doing the fireworks show that evening. Gave me the name, I called the company, used my "networking skills" to ask if I could shadow the team. Ended up setting up the show and firing a few shells myself, holy shit what a rush. If anyone cares:

I'm confused if you're asking what college kids do for fun or what college kids do that is productive. You said it yourself. For fun, we party, hang out, tailgate, go to the lake, play some golf which I guess is productive, etc.

Most of what my friends and me do is party, go to bars/pubs, travel, play sports, play FIFA or just hang out.. Of course it depends on where you are, in the UK it´s a bit colder and more rainy so we don´t do much outside most of the year other than sports.

It goes without saying that I am talking about when we are not at university, at our societies or applying for internships etc.

I always keep busy, if I´m not in class and have no work that NEEDS to be done there are so many other options, even if it´s simply cooking or learning something such as VBA or a new language. I also spend an hour or two a day on Skype to keep in touch with overseas friends.

Guys in my fraternity really like working out, so we put together weight lifting competitions to see who can lift the most. It's a tradition that's been going on for about 6 years and it's a great way to stay fit and relieve stress. You also burn off all the calories from drinking shitty beer and cheap vodka.

Consumption smoothing is retarded. If you stay in this game for a handful of years, money will be the least of your worries. Live it up, because this is the one time in your life where you might actually have time to spare.

Wiffle Ball. All day erry day

Wow, good call. I used to play wiffle ball 3x a week in my fraternity living/dining room. Totally underrated sport at a competitive level haha. I lived off the standard curve with location and knuckle, while the guy I played against was all about the 2 strike "riser". Great times never going to class in college.
