What do you guys think about furries?
This is not a post that is making fun of the ''furry lifestyle" I think it is a legitimate way to express yourself. I used to be one of those people that made fun of furries and couldn't understand why someone would dress up like a stuffed animal.
Last week I met this group of guys who are into the furry lifestyle and they explained it to me as more of a fandom rather than what I originally perceived it as which was a bunch of weirdos dressed up like My Little Pony characters. They told me to come out next weekend since they are having a meeting and I can learn more about the lifestyle and why they do what they do.
Should I go? Or will people forever think I'm a weirdo? My GF couldn't stop laughing when I told her and said why even bothered to talk to them, which I thought was a bit rude but whatever.
Honestly, I'm just looking for advice on how to approach the situation. I have a fascination with furries but could never admit it due to insecurity and the people I surrounded myself with. Change is the only constant and I want to be more open-minded even to those that society considers weirdos.
If you wanna be a furry, go be a furry but you cannot expect people to not think you're a weirdo (because furries are fucking weird).

I think they're very much humans. However, there are some fetishes that will never make sense to me. No one deserves to be kink-shamed (unless it's illegal or involves a non-consenting party).
Just do what you want with your parts and enjoy it. Don't ask a group of anonymous people if they think you should dress up as wiley coyote and bang the road runner - it's silly.
I hope you do hang with this group if you want to and I hope you get into the stuff you enjoy. Everyone deserves to get their rocks off.
