I was very addicted to high stakes poker to the point I was deluded enough to think I could go pro.

one nigjt my usual 3/6 mix game wasn’t running but they had this huge PLO game. I bought in for 25 several times and basically got owned.

I eventually learned it doesn’t matter how book smart you are and just knowing the math isn’t everything, the pros just have an ability to sense when to bluff and stuff.

haha I’ve had some expensive times, but not one day that was really high compared to the others on this thread.

- $800 on date night at Jean Georges NYC

- $6000 to move into a NYC pad

- Sold my car for $21K at Car Max and spent it all in a couple of months in NYC going out every night to bars and clubs

Looking to get more into watches - do you have any advice on how to go about it? Would also appreciate some recommendations for lower priced watches, thanks.

Yeah, my favorite place to find value and support other fantastic entrepreneurs are the new wave of independent watchmakers that take off the shelf movement and then transform them dramatically plus offer custom work.

Some of my favorite are Dornbluth and Sons, Felipe Pikullik, Benzinger and Habring. They are all VERY well priced and you receive amazing service! I can vouche for the last three. I will 100% be buying from them again. They are true artists delivering amazing value at a competitive price point. All of those should be well under ~$10k. I believe a used Dornbluth is like.. ~$3000 - $4000 but with a ton of amazing hand work.

I know it's ironic on this forum, but I do thing it's important to support great artists instead of faceless corporations that do not contribute much to watchmaking.

This is the same reason I buy from local furniture makers. It's surprisingly affordable, you support craftsmen/entrepreneurs, quality is awesome for the $, and you can get custom pieces made for reasonable prices.

“Depp had $2 million in monthly bills, including $100,000 a month for addiction issues. Depp had huge daily spending habits to live a lavish lifestyle, which led to him spending $2 million a month on bills, according to his former management firm. At one time, the actor had to pay: 300,000 a month for a 40-person staff.”
