Sawtelle is like east village (or LES?). Where recent college grads live because it’s close to the cooler parts of town but still affordable

North Beach, Cow Hollow, Marina
Pacific heights in sf
North Beach/Marina/Cow Hollow more fit the bill imo, Pac Heights is more upscale/slightly older
