I'm obviously not a finance 'expert' but there is a series of MIT MBA finance classes on youtube (MIT OpenCourseWare 'Finance Theory' thought by Andrew Lo) which was immensely helpful in grasping finance at a high level. It's also recorded around the time everything started collapsing in '08 which adds a really interesting perspective.
Understand my answer isn't helpful but I don't think there is a substitute to sitting at your desk 100 hours a week for 2 years.
