It's an unholy creation and I refuse to touch it. Circle gang represent ✌️
Also very anti square pizza
i think it’s good if it’s deep dish.
As my grandfather said, "It all eats the same."
Delicious. Cellarmaker in San Francisco does a very good one.
I also recommend square pizza guys in SF if you haven't had it
Cellarmaker beer is also great so can't go wrong w that one
great info
I think circular pizza is more convenient to eat because you can fold it.
I saw Little Caesars has a new square cut thin crust pizza. I generally don’t like Little Caesars, but have seen some positive reviews.
ive never had a little caesars , I dont think they exist in the UK yet. I was at a franchise exhibition a few months ago (in London) and the little caesars stall was dead. on a side note, the carl's jr pitch was great, whats your thoughts on carls? obviously it aint pizza but just curious
Carl’s Jr. is ok. There are a lot of better burgers around me and we don’t have Carl’s Jr. in the south east US, it’s called Hardee’s.
I like 5 Guys better, but the burger place I go locally that I find the best is called Sesame. Sesame has grass fed burgers. Poe’s Tavern is also good, but they aren’t chains.

Little Caesar's? Sheesh. You guys need a good Italian American slice in New York… only square slice I eat is a New York Sicilian.
Square pizza was my childhood! Tuesdays, school lunch was square pizza. I know it ain't some kind of delicacy in our world now. But then? That shit was the be all, end all.
It was Friday for us. Fun times.
I don’t even eat pizza often but the problem with square pizza is that the slices are usually tiny and the crust:cheese-area is all outta wack
A circular pizza cooks differently. The crust and center are even between slices. Square pizza reminds me of pizza for school lunches and microwave ovens.
Why are you comparing local pizza to national chain restaurants? There are many great small pizzerias all over the city that taste much better than that.
Cos im trying to see how popular "Detroit style" pizza is in the US before I take the idea to the UK :)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit-style_pizza
It's honestly that not popular. Jet's is fairly popular in certain regions but not overall, and I can't name any other chains or restaurants outside of Detroit that are known for it
I will say that amongst people who know what Jet's is it's always been a consensus preferred option over other the big chains in my experience
Detroit-style is fantastic. To comment on your original post, though, Prince St. isn't Detroit-style (but is excellent; one of my favorites).
Here's a good recipe if you want to start: https://www.pizzawhat.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Square-pie-recipe-…;
Detroit style pizza is fantastic. Jet's is my favorite big chain pizza no doubt even though it's expensive
Detroit style really is great
I would like to say that the deep dish combo mambo at Little Caesars slaps for being a $7 combo meal. (Square). I like it. And also are we talking about square cut? Like some sicilian pizzas are? Or are we just thinking about the whole thing and how it sits in the box?
yeah Sicilian and or Detroit.
I hope you are joking. The square slices at Prince Street, L&B, Emmy Squared, and a couple other places are just phenomenal. Whereas Dominos and the rest are just meh.
I've only been to one Detroit style place once and it was too thick tbh, I'm asking because the market share of Detroit style in the UK is literally 0.01%, this and a few other factors make it a good business opp for me.
square slices are not "detroit style". If anything it is called sicilian style. Its like all all squares are quadrangles, and not all quadrangles are squares.
just had Detroit style pizza yesterday with some beers with the bros and it was great as always
where'd you get it from? did u get some inspiration from this thread??
in dc there's a place on 14th called Red Light (website). They have ok HH pricing, I think it's half off food and a rotating beer. We've been there a bunch of times, but this was definitely a bit subliminal.
detroit style is fucking bomb. jet's is sick. don't knock it til you try it
Prince Street us my favorite slice in NYC. Will kill for spicy spring
what is it about princes that you love?
Prince St pepperoni square is my favorite slice in NY. Lived here for 6 years.
what makes it great?
Flavorful and a great ratio of crust (which is soft on the inside, yet still crispy) to cheese + toppings. The pepperonis make it a bit too greasy but apart from that it's fantastic.
I don't like Joe's because I feel like I'm eating mostly dough. Makes my jaw hurt.
It's fucking stupid. Not having a crust to hold on to with the central pieces makes it super irritating to eat and the outside corner pieces have way too much crust
Moreover, typically it's a size scam to order square.
8 inch diagonal square pizza is 5.657^ 2 = 32.00 sq. inches
8 inch diameter pizza is 3.14 * 4^2 = 50.24 sq. inches
remember they're 1.5x - 2x the thickness.
