What's the longest a company has made you wait after the interview?
Been waiting for over 1.5 month now. I get in contact with them every now and then, they tell me to wait more.
I think about it all day, wish i could get an answer soon!

hate to be the one to break it to you, but you're not getting the job. if they really loved you, they would have been all over your nuts (or vagina) after the final interviewing. keep searching and networking. good luck.
Well since were including pipe dreams, technically I'm still waiting on JPM NY. They never called me back about a SA a few years back :(

Every time I was offered a job it was within a week. That said, I interviewed with JPM in October, had three rounds with them, and then they told me that they were suspending the position because they weren't sure if they could hire another analyst. Then a week ago they called me and said that they weren't able to hire another analyst at all and that the spot I had interviewed for just wasn't being filled. But I was at the top of the list if they had been able to fill it.
Very odd. And kind of upsetting as it seems i'm on my way to corporate finance purgatory.
No way! Two years ago they told me basically the same thing ha. Said they were "finalizing their numbers in their class" and wanted to make sure they had room to extend me an offer before doing so. I waited and waited and never anything... Must be common practice there to twirl the bait in front of the fishies
Hahah dude! I made this thread because i am going through the same thing!!! Absolutely the same thing. Company isn't sure if they can hire me. At this point, do you think i should even wait for this position? Man i think about this all the time. It's a prestigious internship and i go to a non-target school... so i had my hopes up cos i did well in the interview.
So you interviewed in october and they got back to you now at the end of January? Did you follow up regularly? I follow up regularly thinking it might increase my chances as they'll remember me.
It's usually pretty fast, the above posters cover most of the details: it's usually a couple of weeks max. Keep in mind that your resume DOES go on file and sometimes they DO pull it and call. One girl I know got called back in a YEAR after last contact, which is a total outlier to be sure, so just realize that if it goes over the standard one week you could very well still be in the running.
Despite my raging hard on for HR, sometimes, just sometimes, they do what they're supposed to do.

I waited a little over a month for my last job. I interviewed in mid-April and called them the day after I graduated (mid-May). They said the people who interviewed me had recommended that I be hired and that they were just finishing their background check. The next day, they called me back to make me an offer. If I hadn't called, I never would have gotten the offer.
That seems too long. I waited 3 weeks for one and then got the call. I would continue to follow up
8 months. Still waiting, on 2. Same story as above, very interested but not ready. Speak with owner and head of HR regularly for updates.
22 years and counting.
I think the longest I ever waited was like 3 weeks or 1 month. They just didn't have the staff to cope (plus everone kept leaving even in HR, so there was no one to process my application haha)..should have read between the lines and not accepted the offer in the end...

Not BB, but two very well known global MM firms sent me offers 2-3 weeks after superdays. I had some contact with HR but had pretty much given up hope, so it was a nice surprise.
This will be week #4 for me. The bank has been sending me emails every week informing me they are still making decisions and thanking me for my patience. I don't know what to think...
Wow I thought 3 weeks might have been a record, but I know how you feel.
I couldn't help but to think some of it was bs HR tactics (and I'm sure some of it was), but after I finally received and accepted my offer they were finally able to be candid about everything that was going on... and it turned out that they had some extra hoops to jump through, were trying to get an additional analyst spot approved, had to schedule an additional superday, etc. and they actually had to hold off on giving offers longer than they wanted to.... so you never really know, just be very positive when you talk with them and don't be afraid to outright tell them that they are your top choice (but weave it into the conversation and have reasoning to support it).
Also, for the other offer I received ... I'm 99% sure I was not a first round draft selection and it just randomly happened that a couple people ahead of me took other offers. I'm sure this has been said to you a million times already but anything can happen so stay positive and keep pushing for other opportunities in the meantime.
Thank you. I have kept in touch with them about an other offer received and have also mentioned they are my first choice. I made them aware of when exactly the offer deadline is so I just really hope they get back to me before my other offer expires next week.
You seem to have your shit together, so I assume the BB you're waiting on is fully aware of your other offer and its deadline?
Not IB, but top-tier consulting firm took 4 weeks from final round to offer.
7 months - yeppp.
Had about 8 interviews (broken out into two days) at a european bank's NYC office, did well, and was given a 'verbal' offer at the end of the second day by one of the VPs who interviewed me. He said I should be getting the paper work from HR within the next 3-4 days.
2 weeks later, and I still hadn't heard back. Shot HR an email. Ignored. Followed up every two weeks or so but to no avail.
It wasn't very difficult to put 2 and 2 together, but I did get confirmation from a buddy of mine that the bank was under a hiring freeze. It was a tough blow since I really wanted this job and I really liked the team. I re-started my networking efforts, but I kept sending out an email every month or so to these people following up (no responses, of course).
After about 7 months I received a random phone call. It's the VP and he wants me to chat with an MD. Really informal phone conversation, but we get along just fine. Two days later HR finally calls me to let me know I got the offer.
It was an agonizing couple of months, but the good part is that I ended up getting another - even better - job offer at a better firm within the same week.
My two cents: hang in there and - as trite as this might sound - things happen for a reason.
