What's the most prestigious coffee?

The fundamental issues of the most prestigious water and the most prestigious haircut have already been covered on this board. However, to my knowledge, no topic has ever asked the question of the most prestigious coffee. So here I go:

  • What's the most prestigious coffee drink?

  • What are the most prestigious places in NYC and London to drink coffee?

  • What's the most prestigious coffee beans brand?

  • What's the most prestigious coffee machine brand?

In addition, here are a few considerations regarding the prestigiousness of coffee:

  • Starbuck is not prestigious

  • If one thinks that Starbuck is prestigious, one isn't prestigious

  • The more sugar in the coffee, the less prestigious the coffee is

  • The more coffee one needs to drink to not fall asleep at his desk, the more prestigious one is

Pourover is my go-to. I currently have the Fellow Stagg XF kit w/ the Fellow Ode grinder. I found a slate cheese plate & stack ‘em on it, looks really good actually LOL.

I’m a big fan of Blue Bottle - whenever I’m in NYC, the WTC 3 BB shop is my favorite spot to sit in early AM. I look right out at the 9/11 memorial and get to look at the 1776ft pinnacle of America, on the greatest skyline in the world. Great times!

How do you like the Ode grinder? I have one but feel that the static can be annoying, and it's a bit messy. Otherwise, I think it's pretty good.

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

If you're getting static - send it back! Promise. My first one was throwing grounds like crazy, and I had to hit the thing 4-5 times every time I made a cup. I found that a lot of people have had the same issue, and it's just a bad batch of products. Fellow sent me a new one, then had me send the old one back so I didn't miss a day of coffee. The new one performs great and I've had no issues since.

Great machine. Max grind time ~5 seconds, it's quiet as hell, and the little 'beep' at the end makes me happy for some reason LOL

Kopi Luwak is a coffee that consists of partially digested coffee cherries, which have been eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet. It is also called civet coffee. The cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other fecal matter, they are collected. Wikipedia

Ah yes, the poop coffee. James Hoffmann uploaded a great discussion about it

Any coffee actually brewed correctly and not ruined with a liter of fucking creamer and overly sweet flavorings.

La Colombe Draft Latte is the most prestigious canned coffee. If your office kitchen has these, guaranteed your firm pays above market comp

  • Low in sugar but still tastes moderately sweet
  • Has this amazing texture that no other canned coffee replicates
  • Sleek Can
  • Appropriate amount of caffeine in the regular version. Insane caffeine boost in the triple shot version

My ninety-one year old Italian grandmother still gets up each day from her rest to make espresso for me. It saves a fortune on what I consider "inferior" coffee.

I wouldn't phrase this as prestigious, but certainly premium. Jamaican Blue Mountain is fire and is a single origin bean which makes for a mean cup of coffee. I drink my coffee black too so I've always found it super flavorful. And also the face of the barista at blue bottle when I bought it as an analyst for 20 bucks for the cup this one time was quite memorable but he never knew I took my coffee very very seriously.
