When will we end DEI?

Seeing DEI continuously brought up on here, when do we say enough is enough?

Genuinely at this point white men do not have the advantages to get the job, it’s better off being a woman or black for example breaking into banking then being a white male…

I honestly thought Trump becoming president would end this, but it still seems to be a big aspect in hiring.

Cope. Go bitch about Nepo which takes up far more roles within the industry. Also trust me, there is still a massive benefit to be a WASP

What’s there to cope about lol, I’m happy with my career

Nepo will never go away so I didn’t bother to bring it up

Whats easier to end?

The programms and open discrimination, which is literally celebrated publically... or the shady process of taking action in someone elses favour?

How do you actually track nepotism? Its not like they all have the same last name. The client kid or stepson may be there too... or the nephew...

Ah yes, the white man. Truly societies most oppressed and discriminated against creature. Damn those diversity seminars on racism!

If you want to tackle nepo, make clearer standards on protocols, and standardize Q’s so that the MD’s son doesn’t get all behaviourals

It’s because MAGA is too busy going after racial DEI while ignoring gender DEI. Have you not seen JPM stats in the other thread. Majority of the focus has been in hiring and promoting women. You stop that gravy train, most of DEI will end.

why do you think maga has been pushing against racial DEI but leaving gender DEI alone?

Do they just not know how much worse gender DEI is ?

As explained earlier, prime beneficiaries of Gender DEI are white women even though that is not marketed by banks but stats prove that. MAGA folks, most of whom are white men, don’t have the courage to call out white women as that would upset their wives, mothers, daughters and friends.

HR will still force gender quotas both in the intial screening and at the final round tables. If you don’t play along, your MD will screw you over sooner or later.

Hasn't been the case for me yet

Either way, I think simply just not showing up and just declaring defeat without even trying isn't the right move. HR doesn't have power just by magic or voodoo. Someone put them in power. We can work our way up through organizations and move them in a positive direction. It just take a little vision and hard work.

I mean sure, I already have the job I want, I’m cool if my office full of Abella dangers

Ok so you want dei  so you can be next to Becky delete this thread. If you don’t that means you admit when the game is fair Sanjay and Chao are taking your shit (not much if your working in DD). You just want to go back to a time where white men won a game no one else was playing or knew about but now that everyone wants to play you don’t like the rules anymore?

You're retarded. Even if you assume only white/asians are smart enough to do the job, you'd expect, due to similar intelligence distributions +-2sd, that half the entry level recruits are women. So yes, even in a scenario assuming a large portion of the country is categorically barred from this work, white men would still be 50% of the workforce.

Not surprised you can't figure this out, or you'd have something more valuable to do with your time than post on WSO

JPM data clearly shows white women are being favored disproportionately. Besides, white men and women are severely over represented across all levels. Stop drinking the kool aid. You are being exposed by workforce data of the largest bank in US.

Where's the data? Does it segment between FO/BO roles? Do you mean severely overrepresented or underrepresented? And even if women are favored disproportionately at the entry level, they're also graduating school at higher rates and display greater conscientiousness and ability to collaborate than young men. Not surprising that in early career these traits are more valuable.

How long will it take for DEI complainers to realize they didn’t get X job, opportunity, whatever because they fucking aren’t good enough? We could have expunged every minority on the U.S. census and have a 99% male WASP society and many of you painstakingly average idiots STILL wouldn’t get the job — let’s look in the mirror at some point.

This can’t be taken as anything other than rage bait - dudes username is literally americafirst ffs. You didn’t break in cos you suck bro… there’s not much else to it.

I think some on this thread are younger, so they just weren't in the workforce in the 2010s and didn't see just how insane things have gotten. DEI is now an issue that people openly debate. Back then, if you said "maybe this has gone a bit too far", you'd get fired.

On face value, sure treat people equally. I got no problem. That's not what this was or even close in the 2010s. I'm glad we're moving past those extremes, but I think some just weren't in the workforce at the peak of just how bad things were.

These complaints aren't just because someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day.
