Where do you get your discipline and dedication from Investment Bankers?

I’ve not started work so I might be a bit wrong but based on what I know, Investment Bankers have the most perseverance, discipline and dedication out of all people. Where do you get these values and ethics from? How can you take shit from people and still work your best? How, I want to learn from you.

I think other professions require a lot more dedication and hard work, i.e. medicine is a good example. It is much more difficult to become a good doctor (with patients' lives on the line also) than to be a good banker.

My colleagues are excellent to work with, mainly because they have a particular skill set that was acquired through the years in various banks/deals. Many people could learn this with enough time and interest. I wouldn't say it is the most difficult thing on earth. An interest in business is enough for starters, with special finance areas coming afterwards through studies/placements/jobs, etc
