Why are all my IB friends logged on to Facebook right now? Don't yall got shit to do?

i just checked facebook randomly and logged onto FB Chat. A huge list then appeared with about 20-30 people with the green available icon next to their name and they all work in the IB divisions of goldman, JPM, ms, etc...

i thought everyone had work to do? you might ask what i was doing on FB then...well, im not in IB. i thought/led to the impression that i-banking analysts worked every minute churning out excel?

well, for one they are probably logged onto FB with their phone, which makes it look like you are always on. I work at one of the three banks you list and you are not able to get on FB from our desks, compliance has completely blocked it and the Iphone is only way to do it.

Also even if you work insane hours (which the bankers I know at my firm do), everyone slacks off at least 10 mins per hour (approximating obv) to stay sane, besides it takes only a short amount on time to whip out the phone and check statuses, type a message.
