Why date marketing/fashion girls?

I've seen a lot of memes and posts abt finance bros going for marketing or fashion girls and am curious why that's the case. What's the appeal over a girl in banking/consulting/law/medicine that would make more and understand your hours and lifestyle better? No shade to marketing girls, I just don't get it

Fashion and marketing girls are different enough from one another that they shouldnt be lumped. Id argue the same for medicine girls (these are more similar to STEM chicks in computer science, engineering, etc.) compared to banking/law/consulting. IMO that trio is similar enough where they can be grouped together.

Marketing girls are typically smart, well-educated, but not overly demanding or ambitious. From a personality standpoint they typically are more feminine as well. This can compliment well with someone who has a more demanding job assuming they are fine with the hours. They still make solid money, so wouldnt have to financially support them like you would a public worker or stay at home mom type. This type is far more likely to be a cheerleader in your life.

Consulting/law/banking girls are typically much more masculine and rigid in personality. This does have upsides - they might not get upset or be sensitive over stupid shit like other women, but if you are looking for a warmer personality it may be harder to find. They also will have their own work commitments which is fine for some couples, exhausting for others.

Fashion chicks other end of spectrum is more a status thing (assuming they are or were models or have industry ties). Just a trophy wife. And a guy will get more clout among his peers for dating a model with great fashion sense than a attractive but homelier looking banker

Bro, why even date girls?

Edit: ew guys girls r icky...

I dated a girl when I was 26 in NYC and she went to the Fashion Institute and was 20. One of the best relationships I have had, although it went down in flames. We lived together.

Why is this so controversial? The dude asks what a marketing girl is and in NYC if you meet a girl in marketing, she is probably working for one of these firms. Seems pretty clear to me even though I didn’t offer an explanation.

Less likely to have temperament of a man and interact w/ you as a man outside of sex / more likely to want to have a family and have a traditionally feminine personality

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

It makes me laugh a bit that some guys on here idealize marketing (and therefore marketing girls). Marketing consists of various things, from advertising to market reasearch to analytics (and many things in-between). Many watched "Emily in Paris" and think that every marketing girl is a girl that comes up with some BS slogans, brand names and advertising campaigns, and that her job is easy peasy, with the most difficult thing during the day being the dilemma how to dress up to a fashion show. While this can be true for some people, especially those working in creative agencies, many people working in marketing do it from a 'strategic' perspective which means their job doesn't have a room for BS as it's mostly data analysis, market reseach and statistics. Such a role is also demanding, has long-hours (often longer than typical 9-5) and can be stressful as well.

Yeah good points. I have met various people in marketing, from the Non-Executive CEO of WPP to a close friend at Neo@Olgivy. Marketing was one of my favorite subjects in undergrad and I considered that path, but had an interview with Milward Brown in NYC and the role wasn't what I wanted and the pay was like 20% less than Management Consulting (my other offer).

There can definitely be neurotic marketing girls, ESPECIALLY in major cities like NYC. They are still smart, driven, career focused, and in a demanding field (just not as demanding as law, banking, etc.).

That being said there is still usually an attempt to reconcile that with their own femininity and they prefer some balance in life compared to the absolute husks of human beings that are most lawyers I interact with, or consultant types who just cant turn their bullshit off even when they get home from work.

Might I suggest Big 4 girls OP? Accountant chicks love banker guys and usually arent that ambitious themselves

Career area isnt really a good way to filter. I dated a lot of girls that were into everything ranging from law, to sciences to finance.

What is most important is fundamental alignment. Do you have a shared vision & how to reach it? My wife and I are on the same page about pretty much everything. She used to be in finance fwiw.

It's nice because even though she is now stay at home, she does all of my personal co's accounting + deals with our personal stuff, which is actually a lot of work.
