Why is everyone anon?

Is there a reason everyone is so concerned about their anonymity? My guess would be because you don't want your employer knowing you're on this site, or you don't want to be held accountable for what you say on here by your employer?

Am I missing something? I get general internet anonymity is important, but I notice people going the extra mile to contain here and mention it specifically.

Go ask someone what they think about their job in front of his/her boss.

Then, go ask the same person the exact same thing at the bar when the boss is not around.

If you expect the same answers, then anonymity does not matter for most on this site. You would also be insane if you expect the same answers.

Ahh, one of the only people who do not follow this rule replies. How ironic. I actually wrote this after reading a thread about someone accusing you of being a fake account! So it seems I was heading in the right direction then. It makes sense.

No irony involved. I don't have a boss.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you currently doing? Do you also have no one working for you? Or are you someone else's boss?

Currently, I'm enjoying a stiff cocktail and typing on WSO.

Plus, if anyone ever came up to me in real life, I would just deny that I wrote anything here and say it was some fake account someone created.
