Will my experience be too much to be an IB analyst?
Hello Monkeys,
Currently, I am a sophomore at a CC. Ultimately, I want to be an IB analyst before moving to the buyside. I did an internship at a local IB boutique (largest deal over there was 125MM) and now I am at a local REPE (200-300MM) as a Junior Financial Analyst.
I am also speaking to a local VC firm (14MM) about doing a summer internship with them next year. So which option is better for my situation: to focus only on BB firms or to have a mixture of experiences?
Woah slow down there pal. You might be too qualified for this banking stuff.
Superleggera if its sarcasm then I admit the title is kind of a douchebag title. But the question is reasonable
I personally would say that your experience is a positive, but many others would disagree and say that it looks like you're all over the place. Some will also ask why you never went back to a place ("Did you get a return offer?"). If you want to do IB right out of school, try to get as many IB internships as possible.
Bump
Proper grammar goes a long way.
Check out his update above.
What's a CC?
Community College adapt or die
Is that a target or a non-target?
"I had to much experience to get an IB offer so that is why I am now in middle office" - OP after Recruiting Season
Non-target astfin-juki title like I said is douchey and poorly worded. But the question was if specializing better is then broad experience? Thanks for your advice so far.
Should say IB firms not BB , never posting from my phone again
You're a sophmore at a CC and have interned at a few small financial firms, what exactly on your resume gives you the notion that you have 'too much experience'? It sounds to me like you have a lot more work to do before you can even consider yourself a candidate for IB. Keep working.
Does OP go to the Harvard of community colleges?
OP - shouldn't your main concern, as a sophomore at a community college, be transferring?
