Will the insurance company pay for alternative accommodation?

My rental contract is between me and the woman who rents from the owner of the apartment. The owner is a company that owns 20 or so apartments in the building. There is black mold in my bedroom. If I report the issue, will the owner’s insurance company arrange an alternative accommodation for me while the mold issue is being fixed? Should I be prepared to have another place to live before I report the issue because they may force me to move out without paying for a temporary hotel stay?

Obligatory not an attorney. The first thing that pops into my mind is that not all types of black mold are toxic, so it may be useful to have the mold tested by a mold remediation service. Provided that the mold tested positive for something dangerous, you could likely withhold rent under your state’s warranty of habitability laws for whatever time it isn’t livable (which isn’t likely to be long, so I don’t think that’s that useful here). I don’t know of a way that would pay for hotel/Airbnb/alternative accommodations, so you may have to eat that. Get your landlord’s thoughts and work on getting the remediation service out.

EDIT: you’re on sublet, so keep everybody in the loop. It’s a bit more complicated, but not much.
