Work Laptop sucks
Does anyone have solutions for when the work laptop sucks and IT won't budget for a new one? I'm stuck using an 8 GB ram, 5+ year old POS laptop when dealing with beefy models.
Talk to your manager about it.
I’m currently in the same purgatory. I don’t get how this is a thing.
Ask your boss or your boss's boss and give a legitimate reason when doing so - i.e. "I would be more productive if the model didn't freeze every time I went to calculate it." Someone at your company should have more stroke than the IT manager.
I bitched incessantly and received nods and acknowledgements, but nothing really happened until a meeting with IC where one member observed, "There is something wrong with Goober's laptop." Resolved after that.
