I worked remotely in NYC for 3 years in my 20s and lived in NYC for 4 years. Not sure why you would get a cheaper place if you're there all the time. At one point my friends and I rented a true 4BR with a massive living room and it worked out perfectly for me as I could just work in the living room or my desk in my room and they all had in person jobs so I had the whole place to myself.

What I'm saying is would you rent a Wework to "commute" to and rent a smaller apartment or just work from home and have a nicer place? During Covid I hated feeling like I was locked in my immediate bubble 24/7 and I'm trying to avoid that.

Oh ok I loved working out of my own place. I’d go to the gym in the morning, cook breakfast, go to the gym at lunch, cook some more. I could go into the office if I wanted to as we had flexi move offices at 590 Madison, Madison Square Park, and Wall Street, but really loved working from home. I’m introverted btw. I’ve never used We Work - does your company pay for that?

Appreciate the response. I am also introverted but have an opposite view - my social skills disappeared during Covid so the idea of getting out of the house every day and interacting with people is appealing. Obviously I could do this within the neighborhood and work from a coffee shop or something once in awhile. Also covid was an anomaly, I can still go to the gym/BJJ/soccer so it shouldn't be the same level of isolated as 2020.
