My industry is a mixture of VC and PE. There are barely any women in that space, even though companies are really trying to make a change. Our VC team has 1 female employee.

In theory, yes, I would date within the industry. But most people I meet are in startups, partner firms, or other PE/VC firms.

There are some very decent girls in the overall finance industry though.

I really like what I do, but it is a preference of mine to not date someone in the industry. I won't turn it down if she happens to be in the same industry, assuming the chemistry is right, but I definitely like to avoid overlap of personal life and work life. Hearing from someone else at the end of the day who does something different can be kind of refreshing because my work has it's own stresses and there are times where I don't want to talk about it.
