Would you date someone who has significantly less money than you?

Guys, would you seriously date/marry a girl whose family has less money than yours? - i.e. you grew up wealthy and she is middle class - or do you think it is wise to just stick to someone with a similar background. Do you think this gap could lead to issues down the road, such as in social situations?

Yes. Money/career etc. is irrelevant for women. A woman being highly paid can even be a negative signal

Try living in the post-intern world and see how much real life costs and say this again.

You need to be making 800k minimum to maintain a semi-comfortable lifestyle with a kid in HCOL, need to be at two commas to be comfortable. I’m not even joking.

At first glance this feels wrong but I've heard this statement too many times before for it not to have some validity. Can you give a general breakdown why 800k is semi-comfortable?

Just had my trade dispute rejected by Schwab for a loss of 35k. This single issue alone should be a gigantic red flag to anyone who trades on their platform. If they have a system error, and you do not video record your trading (they actually said this), they will not honour their fuck up. Switching everything away from them. Fuck this company.

I live in the post-intern world. This is just not true. It's the perspective of someone who grew up wealthy and never had to worry about money or spending like 99% of America. 800k is like where you make money faster than any way you can legitimately spend it.

Who gives a fuck? Lmao I cannot imagine liking some chick and then realizing she isn't well off and parting ways. If we click we click, if not then that's that. This is kind of making me laugh to be honest -- "Oh you drive a Honda? Sorry nevermind."

Yes, if she’s an immigrant. Yes, if she grew up poor(er) but she’s on her way up. Born in the United States of America, and you are unable to make something of yourself?  I would be unable to find common ground, see eye to eye on a multitude of other important, core issues of life, or frankly, have the respect I would need for someone with whom I have a relationship.

Find either a cash cow or a turnaround situation, don’t put a depreciating or stagnating asset on your life’s balance sheet.

edit: not sure why this is getting so much MS.

You're getting MS because you're assuming everyone's goal in life is to make as much money as possible. What if she's a brilliant teacher? Passionate about art history? Just because she isn't making banking money doesn't mean that she's "unable to make something" of herself

You’re getting monkey shit because this is a shit post learn to not be a dick

So, my position is that men exchange their wealth for women's attractiveness, so there is no real benefit in considering a woman's wealth. But in the realm of dating white women, white women age so poorly that it's a terrible investment. White women sun bathe their entire youth without regard to sun damage and they drink wine like it's water. I'm so sick of seeing white girls in their mid-20s with crow's feet and lines on their face and sun spots. In that context, I feel as though a (white) woman had better bring something beyond her sex appeal because most will look like old women at 40.

Literally every race has stereotypes about aging badly. The sun destroys white women's skin. Asian women don't age until all of a sudden they look 80 years old at 40-50. Hispanic women all of a sudden gain a ton of weight. Not sure if there's any stereotype about black women though

Have you seen white women recently? It's more than an unfair stereotype; white American women consume the sun and take horrible care of their skin; it's far more common than a white woman who has not permanently damage her skin through excess sun and drinking.

I'm honestly kind of shocked that looks matter THAT much. I knew looks are important but holy shit

If you're rich, why would you settle for an uggo? Do you want your kids to be uggos? Just put in the bare minimum effort to be in semi-decent shape, develop your personality and some outside work hobbies and once you're 25+ you're the gold standard for dating material if you've got a good paying job.
