Commercial banking at Capital one or Global transaction banking at TD Securities or Corporate development Analyst at JP Morgan

Hey everyone, I have three offers for internships right now lined up and I want to understand which is a better offer to take up, which field has the best growth opps/exit opps and how does compensation look like over time. Which field would be more lucrative for me if all others things are equal. Which role would allow me to maybe lateral into IB Later on if I wanted to... Thanks for the advice and feedback in advance!

Hey there, congrats on the offers! That's quite the achievement. Now, let's break this down:

  1. Commercial Banking at Capital One: This role can provide a solid foundation in understanding the banking industry, credit analysis, and client management. However, the exit opportunities might not be as diverse or high-paying as in investment banking.

  2. Global Transaction Banking at TD Securities: This role can offer a unique perspective on banking, dealing with cash management, trade finance, and securities services. It's a bit more niche, so while it might not directly lead to a role in investment banking, the skills you learn could be valuable in a variety of roles.

  3. Corporate Development Analyst at JP Morgan: This role typically involves strategic planning, M&A, and other high-level financial analysis. It's often considered a stepping stone to investment banking and private equity roles, and could offer higher compensation in the long run.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, if your ultimate goal is to lateral into investment banking, the Corporate Development Analyst role at JP Morgan might be your best bet. However, all these roles offer valuable experience and it ultimately depends on where your interests lie.

Remember, it's not just about the exit opportunities or potential compensation - it's also about what you'll enjoy and excel at. So take some time to consider what each role involves and where you see yourself thriving. Good luck with your decision!
