1-hour financial modelling test. What should I expect?
Hi all,
I have a modelling test coming up for a FT analyst position, and I'm told it will be an hour. I'm not too sure what to expect, I've done full-blown 3-statement LBOs which I don't think I'm able to finish in one hour and I've also done short-form LBOs where I just built out the income statement and cash flow statement and exit analysis.
Problem is, I've never sat for a one-hour test and I'm not too sure what to expect. Can someone provide some insight please? Thank you very much!
interested as well
It should just be the short form (like you've laid out able); they'll probably provide a pretty simplistic template.
As you say, it would be tough to build a full-blown 3-statement model in under an hour.
@billyackman just sent this around: https://multipleexpansion.com/
Expect it to be between a full-blown and a short-form. You can build a P&L and a simple PF BS, with some assumptions on working capital to get a shortform LBO. This can easily be done under 1 hour.
I will most likely be a short form LBO. Disclaimer - this was for a PE Associate position. I recently completed an interview that included an LBO modeling portion. I was given a template that contained two tabs. First tab included an abridged lbo model with historical company info and the second tab had templates for building different cases which fed into the first tab. A majority of my time was spent assessing deal structure and coming up with reasonable cases to underwrite based on historical info.
