2023 PE Associate Comp
With on cycle recruiting over and a few companies giving offers during off cycle I think now would be a good time to talk about this topic. In IB comp is very standard and transparent which makes you believe you are paid fairly. Why should PE be any different (see the period, this is not a question 😃). It would be great if you could include your firm, base, bonus, coinvest, carry, signing bonus, and location. If you don’t want to put your firm (highly encouraged 😃) then can you put the fund size. To prevent a debate on what’s a MF or UMM just use fund size, MF = +14B fund size and UMM = +4.5B fund size. Ik I’m gonna have hate from the people who are at funds with almost 4.5B fund size but can you just say MM please :). This also goes for all levels of associates!
For example,
GTCR (UMM) - incoming associate, 150k base, 175k bonus, no co invest, no carry, no signing bonus, Chicago

no need for a new thread
Would be a lot more helpful if people name dropped firms to make it a lot more transparent which most people on that trend do not. Helps push the neddle. No reason for associates to get paid different a similar funds
Sure but unless you're talking about UMM/MF, most other funds have incoming associate classes of 3 or less people. Wouldn't wanna dox myself like that
I think a new thread is needed (need to benchmark real-time + non-1st yr. associate comp).
Associate 2. $100k base, $100k bonus, and $100-200k carry. Fund size between $200-$500M.
Hey, mind if I PM? Have a few questions about pe comp
PM'd
Is that carry figure total DAW or is that an annualized number?
Incoming 1st year associate: 100k base, 100k bonus, fund size between 300-500M. No coinvest/carry
1st yr MF associate with 150 base 150 bonus 30 signing
1st yr MM assoc 200 base 125 bonus 25 signing, coinvest
Do you mind sharing fund size or AUM? MM grouping is a big range (1bn - 10bn apparently)
Yeah it's about ~$2B
1yr MM assoc 125 base 125 bonus, coinvest
Fund size ?
HL/Harbourvest/Alpinvest?
What's the rough annual value of your co-invest?
BX AS1
140 base, 300 target ("material upside"), coinvest
440 or 300 all in?
Think.
$300 all in, although I was told up range of $300-$315
MF Associate 1: $180k base, $180k bonus plus profit share
What does profit share mean? Ratable dividends from the gps annual earnings and or distributions? Bonuses on profitable exits?
From offer letter appears to be an annual discretionary bonus that the firm contributes into a self-directed investment account. Unsure of how the ultimate $ value is calculated
Pls drop name of firm, or PM if possible!
.
they have more than a few incoming associates, he's not doxxing himself
MM, $150 base $150 bonus no co invest no signing
