Accelmed Partners in Miami

Folks,

Can we please share our thoughts about this fund in Miami? I would like to work with tech companies and I do not mind learning more about HealthTech space. I am not sure about the base / comp and culture at this fund so would love to hear from those who come before me.

Thank you in advance!

Would avoid. Funded via Israeli billionaire who holds the pen on all IC meetings. Is super aggressive on DD asks - most of which isn’t used. They have a very old VP on the team (20 YOE) who has unrealistic demands and huge chip on shoulder.

Returns have been average. They do value investing in a high growth industry - very tough to do.

Thanks! I was wondering why they have no associate in their entire team when I do a LinkedIn search and look through their websites.

In terms of diligence, to be honest, assuming you are on the sell-side, you and I probably will continue to receive Diligence questions from buyers and those info are mostly available in data room - they just have to tweak the data and the info to get their responses but they refuse to do so. Hence, they send us a tracker to ask us to make a meal for them and lay on their tables. I get that all the time so I just think it is what it is.

May I ask for your opinions why it would be tough to invest in high growth industry like Health Tech? If it is tough, is it why they keep their Fund Size relatively small to meet up with the challenges of investing in this industry and to mitigate the dry power situation?

It sounds like you worked with them in the past but please correct me if I am wrong.

I spoke with the recruiter and surprisingly, she advised me their base and bonus is much higher for the associate level at a lower middle market compared to what my bank would pay for Associate 1 / Analyst 3 level. Due to my family situation, we gotta move and I am trying to figure things out. Thanks!

I spoke to recruiter about them and did two rounds, but passed. Not worth moving to Miami for.

They've had turnover in the junior / mid ranks (some stayed as little as 3 months). The most concerning piece the recruiter mentioned is that they gave his candidate an offer, but before doing reference checks, decided to pull the offer. Apparently they didn't give any valid reason - something about having second thoughts about hiring a Sr. assoc (vs. assoc).

I'd avoid the firm. Sure they've had a couple funds raised, but majority of the LP money is from a foreign single LP (wealthy billionaire). The remaining $ are from other family offices. From my interview experience, the team was not very commercial and didn't sound like a place where you'd get the best reps. Upward mobility is also a challenge - their only VP on the team has 15+ years of experience in ER

That is why they have no associate on their team. I was wondering who has been doing the grunt work while the top folks making bucks. Thanks for the inputs. I greatly appreciate it.
