Advice on asking for more responsibility during annual review
About to have my annual review after a really successful year of working in PE. Some context:
My boss loves me and has been a great mentor to me,
I have recently been killing it at company-wide presentations, I think I have publicly established myself as someone of value,
I am in portfolio management for a multi billion (USD) fund, despite this I interface directly with a lot of our investors handling relationships with HNW clients... we are a small company so there is a degree of flexibility in what we do
I work in a small company that is growing fast, I could see myself working here 5 years potentially
I am young, I will apply to B school soon
I want to ask my boss for more responsibility:
adding some of our social impact funds to my umbrella (handled by totally different portfolio managers who have expressed need for future help)
becoming more deeply involved with our capital markets team that handles institutional relationships (manager has also has expressed need for help from me specifically)
I am absolutely ambitious and capable but I can understand pushback since these are a lot of things to be doing at once, what would you tell me as my boss?
