Advice on Return Offer

Hey guys, I am a rising junior at a non target school and I am working at a small PE shop this summer. I understand that this is rare nor am I banking on it as my only option, but I am going to try leverage a return offer for next summer, then hopefully full time because it has been indicated to me that it is possible here. Other than being helpful for menial tasks and taking as much exposure as possible to more complicated aspects of the business, underpromising and overperforming, etc, I realized that in order to try and achieve this goal I needed to showcase that I possess the technical ability required to perform this job, at least at a basic level. I have started to build my own model, trying to showcase a thorough level of complexity and understanding, to then showcase to our team. I was wondering if there is more that you recommend I do to try to come back for another summer and then full time.

(Wanted to reiterate I am not banking on this as my only option, but given that it seems there is a chance I can come back, I want to do as much as possible to get that opportunity)
