Am I too old with 30 to move to PE in Europe?
Curious about this. I am currently at MBB with c ~3Y experience (senior associate). Profile is very typical (top target, experience abroad, top grades/test scores).
I'm from continental Europe (think D/A/CH) where it is common to do bachelor + masters (5-6 years), civil service/military service. I also worked in some mid-market company before my studies.
I know in PE there are a lot of ppl. who go there from undergrad (IB -> PE) (in MBB nearly everyone has a masters) so I might question if this raise some eyebrows?
I'm feeling insecure about this because I'd love to also gone the classical path of starting at 23/24 after ungergrad but back then majority of people over here went the longer route so I am wondering if this comes off as bad.
You'd probably struggle to find many 23/24 year olds in PE in Europe.
Nope, you're fine
thanks I really thought it comes off as weird and people would not like to move forward because of that.
Feel like 30 is quite young - see a lot of people in early 30's / mid 30's in relatively junior / mid level roles.
but not as associate hires normally .. no? I'm trying to position my experience in the best possible way. I have MBB experience but also god my hands dirty (before my studies) working in a mid-market firm (related to my family). As I said also did military service.
Since I am gunning mainly for midcap I hope I can leverage that.
It's quite normal tbh.
