Associate Pay at UAE SWFs

Hey guys,

I was approached by couple recruiters with roles at various SWFs in the GCC region. Just wanted to check if someone has any info regarding pay at the following funds:

The recruiter for ADQ mentioned AED40-60k range for an associate with 50-70% bonus.

Any info would be appreciated!

Apologies, can't seem to find them. Mind linking the website?

Holy crap UAE looking better and better every day

Anyone has any info on pay/promotion progress at these SWFs? Can most people who are willing to stay in middle east be promoted to MD level or are most people stuck at VP level?

hey chimps!

Does someone know about the interviews / lifestyle at ADQ? Also what is the difference between “alternative investments & M&A team” and “direct investment team”?

Thanks in advance!

Alternative investments & M&A is their conventional private equity team which also handles in-house M&A for the portcos. I'm not sure about the other team - that may be VC?

Interview is pretty straightforward and includes a very short LBO model which is practically done for you. was pretty far along the process until the team completely ghosted me + the headhunters they were working with. wouldn't really recommend this gig - cio reiterated that they crank a ton (even at his level). mentioned that there are 10+ IC's every week (new investment + in-house M&A) spread across a very lean deal team which largely comes from Abraaj.

Does anyone know how the process is structured at these places?

I went through the ADIA process, definitely do not recommend it. It’s comprised of:

- Multiple Early Check ins with Headhunters

- First round

- 3 hour modelling case study with unclear instructions that had multiple errors which really throws you off

- 12 “second" rounds so you can meet the entire team, for this one they're supposed to fly you out but instead made me do 3 virtual interviews a day over a course of 1.5 weeks from 4-7am given the time differences, was absolutely awful especially when you're working in IB

- 1 final round with the Arab national running the operation

At the end they didn't give me an offer, but I was so frustrated with this 3 month process that I had lost complete motivation. Joining ADIA as an associate likely stagnates your career anyways so that's a silver lining here. Having said that, the benefits and tax free income is really attractive so kudos to anyone that makes it through that hell.

Yeah. I applied for a generalist role in the region and had infra model thrown at me with mistakes in Opening BS.

Are these quotes for US-based roles or in UAE? I had a recruiter reach out from one of the original firms listed, ultimately didn't pursue as comp was not impressive, NY based, and from discussions with others I got the vibe that unless you're Middle eastern and speak the language, you'll be a second class citizen re: promotions / exposure / etc.
