Bain Capital NY Office?

Does anyone have info on Bain Cap's NYC office? Specifically, curious to what degree new VPs on the PE team would be allowed to work out of NYC as opposed to Boston and whether doing so depends on vertical, etc.

Every vertical has at least two VP/principals that sit in New York, as well as most of the industrials partners and a consumer partner. About half of the associates are in NY as well.

50/50 just for the 2nd year associates, majority start in Boston (except for those that started as analysts). Firm is becoming more lenient on NY starts as the office grows (as OP notes, really sizable post-MBA presence now including most of industrials). Choice of NY vs Boston is essentially up to you at 2nd year associate and up including VP. Source: work here

Group dependent. Typically 2-year min as other commenters have noted for A/As to be in Boston before NY transfer can be considered. Though some folks (i.e., Credit, Industrials) start out at Assoc or VP level in NY office.

At this point from what I've heard the NY office is basically at 100% capacity, so would only expect it to be harder in the near-future to join in NY
