Baring Private Equity Asia / PE advice

Hi all,

About to start a contract role with Baring Private Equity Asia for the next 6-9 months, as a trainee analyst. Two main questions to ask of anyone who's heard about the firm/worked there before.

1. Any advice in terms of things to do/look out for when it comes to day-to-day work?

2. Any advice generally when starting a job at a PE firm?

Cheers.

Can't speak for contract roles but based on friends who have worked in FT roles across their PE/credit teams, prepare to work your ass off - culture is intense and tough.

Things to do/look out for should be consistent with any job, PE firm or not. Don't be sloppy, take pride in your work. Don't make the same mistakes twice. Be humble, learn and absorb as much as you can etc etc.

Referring to the SG office yeah. At this stage, I'm willing to suck it up in terms of hours, at least for a bit. Spent two years on a big 4 infra advisory team, didn't get any modelling work, and I'm hoping this stint gives me that technical exposure, because modelling has proven to be the bottleneck career-wise.

Out of curiosity, your friends who worked there, are they still there/left recently? I ask because I noticed you're a principal, figured you've been in the industry a while. Wondering what pulls people to the firm if the hours are worse than IBD
