Better to intern at major consumer company or IB if long term goal is PE?

If the long term goal is PE, is it better to work on a finance team at a major consumer company (i.e. Nestle, AB InBev) for junior summer or do more of a traditional investment banking internship. I have offers for both types of positions and am not certain which to take.

I feel like taking the investment banking position is the more sound move but some family members involved in investment banking claim otherwise.

I’d love to get some more opinions from those who have a good perspective on the matter.

Agree with the above, I hardly see how being on the finance team for Nestle would be relevant. Can't think of people who have moved naturally from this kind of position to PE.
