Boutique ESG PE firm vs prestigious fintech/AM firm for SIP

Prestigious asset management vs boutique private equity firm

Hi guys I need your advice. I’m currently choosing between a summer internship (SIP) in a big bank/fintech - asset servicing role (NYC) or in private equity in a boutique firm (North Carolina). I want to pursue a career in finance and find private equity particularly interesting, as I just finished a PE spring internship and I’m eager to learn more. However, that is the only finance related experience I have on my resume.

The NYC SIP was competitive, it will give me a good network and its focus on crypto is appealing to me. The NC PE firm’s focus on ESG-driven investing is less interesting to me and it was less competitive, altho i know the firm invests a lot in its people.

I am unsure whether I should broaden and diversify my career path and CV or deepen my experience in an area I am interested in. I am currently an incoming junior in Aug 2024. I know both experiences will be educational and help me learn loads as they have a good rotational training program. I hear great reviews from past interns for both companies too. Aside from hourly wage and location as factors to consider what would you guys recommend?
