Breaking into Alternatives in India: Is CAIA enough without IIM or IB background

Hi everyone, I’m a final-yearstudent in India and recently completed the NISM Series XIX-C AIF certification, which sparked my interest in the alternative investments space — especially private equity, real assets, and hedge funds.

I’m now considering pursuing the CAIA Level I exam in March 2026, but I want to ask honestly: • How well is CAIA recognized in the Indian job market, especially for roles in AIFs, family offices, or alternative asset managers? • Can a fresher with CAIA Level I (and possibly financial modeling skills) realistically break into an entry-level role in alternative investments or fund research?

Also — if you’ve worked in an Indian AIF, boutique PE, or multi-family office, I’d really appreciate your thoughts on how they view CAIA during recruitment.

Thanks in advance for any guidance. I’m trying to build a niche skill stack and want to invest in the right qualifications at the right time.
