Choosing Between Two Private Equity Funds: Which One Should I Work For?

Hi everyone,

I’m deciding between two private equity roles and would really appreciate your input. • One is a more demanding full-time role, heavily focused on investor relations and reporting. I’d be working closely with the fund’s partners and LPs. • The other is an internship position, more flexible in hours, and offers exposure to the investment team and deal analysis.

I’m trying to weigh short-term workload vs. long-term learning and growth. I’m considering a framework like:

Career Value = (Learning × Exposure × Team Quality) – Lifestyle Cost + Brand Equity

Has anyone faced a similar choice early in their PE career? What mattered most in hindsight?

Thanks in advance!
